Threads & Whiskers: The Creative Cat
Inspired by the Japanese tradition of boro, the artwork celebrates creativity, curiosity and my lifelong love of cats.
I stitched The Creative Cat from thoughtfully chosen pieces of Japanese cotton, combining sashiko stitching with hand embroidery. with hand-worked sashiko stitching and delicate embroidery creating layers of texture and detail. A palette of black, white and rich reds is warmed with touches of autumn colour, reflecting my love of Japanese textiles, creative making and, of course, cats.
Every stitch in the original artwork was sewn by hand before the artwork was carefully reproduced as this premium-quality phone case, allowing you to carry a little piece of original textile art wherever you go.
