Threads and Whiskers – The Cat Jumped Over the Sardine
A bit of whimsy with a leaping Japanese cat at its centre, surrounded by fish and an array of ephemera, all beautifully displayed on stretched canvas and professionally framed with a burst of colour.
Handcrafted using Japanese cotton, new and vintage brown paper and buttons, the occasional gold chocolate wrapper, origami paper, a dried flower posy, glass fish and a sardine tin box (I love sardines!!). You might even find a musical frog — nothing goes to waste!
It’s a playful mixed-media collage bringing together vintage and found materials in a richly layered little world of colour, texture and pattern, creating a wonderfully eclectic collection of treasured fragments.
The result is part textile artwork, part collage and part found-object assemblage — with the mischievous cat bringing all the elements together.
Professionally framed at Lismore Art & Framing, this is a small artwork with plenty of personality.
